Let me start by saying the following: in the history of the NFL there have been few players as physically talented as Michael Vick. I can name a few, Bo being one (if you don’t know who that is stop reading) and Barry Sanders another – but the comparisons are not important and will end up in the same place as the “who would win: Tyson or Ali?” argument. Simply put: Michael Vick being reinstated is an atrocity. Allow me to explain.

The only reason that Vick is being reinstated is that he will sell tickets, period. In fact, it is the same reason that Tyson was reinstated after biting off Hollyfield’s ear. Don’t get me wrong, I was a Tyson fan, especially in his Custamado focussed prime, but I was also was against him ever fighting again after he did that debacle. Sad how the amazing can fall, and who has fallen farther that Mike Tyson?

I enjoyed watching Michael Vick doing superhuman things on the football field, hell I even loved the Michael Vick Experience Commercial (supplied just below this paragraph) put together by Nike(what happened to their cool commericals anyway?), that aside him being as stupid as he was needs to be made into a message for all professional sports players – you remember them right? The guys that CHILDREN LOOK UP TO.

So what should have been done? In my opinion his career should have ended, period. The man who was paid something like 11 million per year, not including signing deals with companies like Nike, and who was a physical phenom couldn’t let go of his gangster attitude ultimately leading him down the path to funding a DOG FIGHTING CIRCUIT – which btw is a f’n felony. Yes, he did his time for that crime, but only with the legal system. His time professionally should be forever. When will we bring professional atheletes back down off of Mount Olympus to live with the rest of us where the Law is the Law?

Gotta disagree here. sports is reality TV with an unpredicted outcome. Actors are in the same boat. Many people have done much worse than him and have been given a 2nd chance. The guy lost 70 MILLION dollars and is 20 million dollars in debt. His past life is still haunting him with that debt.

I want to see him on the football field again – Plus my Detroit Lions get well plan involved signing him and drafting Aaron Curry with the #1 pick. Now that Stafford is the QB, I wouldn’t mind seeing him succeed somewhere else.

Lawyers and Politicians – they are the evil ones holding down our nation with silly laws/lawsuits. Plus they’ve stolen much more money than Vick could ever hope to make.

I also agree to disagree – I think Vick has served his time and paid the price. I don’t really care if I see him on the football field – that is not my point. If a doctor was convicted of dog-fighting, I would not want to take away his right to practice when he got out of prison. To me, you can’t take away someones right to make a living as punishment for something unrelated. I understand he is a role model – let him do community service, PETA ads, whatever. Redemption is a good role model, too.

Out voted! I am just tired of professional sports players, who get paid a stupid amount of cash, breaking the law on a seemingly regular basis, and being “forgiven” to play again. I look to send a message – keep your god damned nose clean.

I agree that sports players should be held to a higher standard, and I think Vick was punished more than Joe Hillybilly Dogfighter. I would say that in general professional sports do a decent job of punishing their morons.
