Die hard college football fans will tell you that college football is more exciting and interesting that pro football. Dynasties in college ball often stay that way, whereas a dynasty team in the NFL can change almost over night due to free agency. What they like to leave out of their raw raw chant is how the national champion is chosen comes down mostly to a convoluted voting system and a single game – no tournament – just one game. If you compare that to the NFL, which has a rather rigorous system in place to determine the nation champion, you quickly notice how the NFL seems to have their crap together just a bit better than college does at least when determining who the top dog is.

This year there is a bit of controversy regarding who is going to the National College Football Championship game. Most will argue that Alabama definitely deserves to be there, especially given how badly they whooped on Florida recently. Texas on the other hand is a shroud in doubt as their last game was won based on a replay at the last second of the game – in other words they didn’t soundly beat their opponent – which a national championship team should be able to do.

Why does that matter? Apparently there are three other undefeated teams, none of which are in any of the big six BCS conferences, who have been totally over looked. Sure, their undefeated status does get them into other major bowl games, each of which pays something like 17 million to the school (of which the players still don’t see a single dime) but it leaves them out of the who is best argument by defacto.

The problem here is why is it that College Basketball has a great series to determine the national title holder whereas college football does it with a voting system? Think about that. Furthermore,if you go with the conspiracy theorists you might be able to conclude as well that if there were no undefeated big 6 schools, and yet there happened to be an undefeated non big 6 school, would that undefeated team still be overlooked? I sincerely hope that happens next year just so that we can all see how the idiots running the show will react to their glorious process being riddled with controversial packed holes.

Fix it folks. Period.
