In what is being called the biggest upset in World Cup History, and possibly sports history, New Zealand (going into this game ranked 76th in the world) tied Italy (Ranked 5th in the world)!!
To put this in perspective for Americans – A Junior College American Football Team Tied The defending Superbowl Champions – yes, its that amazing. In the USA Americans love underdogs – and the underdogs came through.
Congratulations to New Zealand – Your Goalie, Mark Paston, played like a GOD.

I thought that the Swiss beating Spain was the biggest upset.
Yeah they mentioned that upset having been the best prior to this one. Funny how a tie is considered a bigger deal than a win. Weird sport.
I still think that it’s a bigger deal to Spain, they are now tied for last place, 3 points down in their group, with 6 points left available. Italy is tied for second place, only 2 points back from first, with 3 points still available. Italy’s next game is against the weakest team in their group, while Spain has to play against 2 teams that should be able to earn ties. Spain, which was a favorite in the Cup, might not be able to make it into the second round without some very good playing.
