Given one of the more popular discussion themes on BlinkinBlogs remains on global climate (change), here is a post regarding something quite interesting yet unprovocative. J. Craig Venter, best known for his work on the human genome, recently gained some nice lettuce from the petrol industry to underwrite his promising research in genetics and energy – in this realm, particular to autotrophic organisms.

Imagine ubiquitous stations of microalgae located in every home that can literally suck CO2 from the air and through their normal, slightly tweaked, metabolism produce fuels, chemicals, and even food.

    I’ve read a bit on the self contained Algae farms. Apparently Algae is a super plant – it both makes oxygen and oil – better than practically any other plant on the planet. Oddly enough it is rarely used.

    WEIRD.
