Congress passed the new Health Care Bill.
According to the article linked to :
“Barack Obama last night forced his bitterly fought healthcare reform billthrough Congress, bringing near-universal coverage to Americans and delivering the first major triumph of his presidency.”
Note the use of the word “Forced” there. If that is really the case then the USA government has much bigger issues than most people realize. Apparently a President (don’t get me started on Bush here) can push a Bill past several hundred people. If that really is possible then why have a House or Senate at all?
BTW – It is supposed to save 1.2 Trillion of taxpayers dollars. How? Through other taxes of course. Huh what?

Oh, I’m pretty sure this healthcare reform issue has brought to light many of the problems with the USA government.
Such as?
The complete inability to cooperate to get things done – and the various issues with the two-party system. At least.
The very concept that the Filibuster was bastardized into what it is used for today supports your comment. Now just the threat of one appears to be enough for politicians to allows for certain things – like documented blackmail.
Yes – it appears that the only way to get something constructive (or deconstructive, whatever your opinion) done now in our government is through good old-fashioned arm-twisting.
I have been watching the show on Stars called Spartacus. Odd how much the backstabbing in that show (based on ancient Rome) pales in comparison the to the stuff going on today. At least then a knife sticking out of your back was real.
