Personally, I’m growing more and more despondent to the entire Global Warming/Change topic the more I’m witness to the buffoonery offered from both sides of the debate over in Copenhagen. Let’s begin with the side I reside on. Obviously, Climate Scientists are human. Thus, my hypothesis is slowly defining itself as “human beings are not properly wired to take on such a systemic challenge as we can’t even get a shared baseline established in order to properly argue this issues at hand”. If “Hopenhagen” took 17 years to bring to fruition and in that time the Specialists couldn’t build a consensus in which to establish relevancy upon, then why is this conference taking place now? Should we not suspend activities to allow the Climate Science Community to get their “ducks in a row” so to speak? If we can engage in research on a broad and comprehensive enough realm so as to develop a significant theory on climate change – why can’t this be properly articulated on the world stage? Why can’t the Scientists produce a clear, concise treatise outlying the supporting data?

To quote Adam Smith, “People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public”. How apropos of Sir Smith. Human behavior changes little over the centuries. The problem setting before us can be properly defined as too few understand the relevant sciences involved with global climate change (and they refuse to become a target or work “tooo closely” together). And too many of us require a more nuanced understanding of the risks and probabilities (as witnessed via Lord Mockton’s leverage against the blonde dummy – see ScanJack’s posting below). What is left is a gigantic void of miscommunication, misinterpretation, and distrust.

Where is the intellectual elite to lead this critical issue? Of note, this group DOES NOT include Al Gore. Counterinuitively, Mr. Gore has damaged this Cause. And why was Phil Jones (with his inclination to play statistics games with data via email) allowed to be the scientific mouthpiece for global warming? He has been officially swiftboated – and for the betterment of the world. Where are the mature, articulate Subject Matter Experts? With regards to the naysayers in attendance… at least Lord Mockton didn’t slap on blue facepaint and wear an animal-print diaper to show his displeasure. What the hell? Instead of writing some crap on a placard whilst dancing around like a native, make your position known through acceptable channels. Write an editorial. Organize a reading group. Blog on BlinkinBlogs. This group’s colorful protestation is making a mockery of the serious anti-warming position and making me hope that they used chinese-produced paint on their exposed skin.

If anything of value can be extracted from the circus of events taking place in Europe right now it is that the Human Race is definitely not as evolved as we think we are. We all should be ashamed as I know I am.

The one thing I have taken away from COP15, in addition to the points made in this post, is that “Global Governance” has been mentioned over, and over, and over again. From some of the reporters there who have named numerous scientists that had passes to the event, and as this week progressed were turned away, I just don’t see this circus having “anything” to do with Climate Change, or Global Warming. What appears to be the prevailing prediction is that a treaty on a “Global Financial Framework”, and not a “Global Climate Treaty” is what will come out of this COP15. If this is it for our evolution as a species, I’d like to turn in my membership card which conception signed me up for.

It truly has become one big joke hasn’t it? To such a degree that it all just smells of crap.

The entire thing was a massive failure. Congrats “World Leaders”.
