This morning I felt compelled to chip away at a specific tier within the awe-inspiring expanse of human ignorance as it applies to natural ecosystem equilibrium. It is critical to break the cycle of illogical fear producing legislation that then justifies the illogical fear. The same ignorance is taken with an array of other top-tier predators… from sharks, lions, tigers, bears to even low-pathogenic viruses that are routinely killed at the expense of allowing high pathogenic super-viruses the darwinian space to thrive.

If you feel compelled… the email address is listed below.

subject: Mountain Lions in Kansas

Honorable State Senator Holmes -
Although your current effort to legalize the hunting of the scant numbers of Mountain Lions in Kansas is understood as a reaction to constituent requests, it still remains bewildering how an educated man, such as yourself, wouldn’t attempt to discuss options with your voter base first. The ecosystem has been out of balance since ranchers and farmers killed off natural predators in the late 19th century through pure ignorance triggered by unsubstantiated fear. Now as nature regains a degree of equilibrium, you bend to knee-jerk reactions without any supporting evidence presented – other than pure ignorance triggered by unsubstantiated fear. Why should the state endure another round of illogical extermination? Why should nature endure another two centuries of imbalance?

Again, this email is being sent with full knowledge of why you’re proposing a bill to hunt the meager few Mountain Lions living in Kansas. However, might you be reacting in a similar manner to your constituency — the majority of which remain rather uneducated as to the true degree of danger posed from these rather reclusive animals?

The “thinking people” of Kansas, the Midwest, and the rest of the country have their eyes upon you, Senator.

Sincerely,
(Caravaggio)

Lions and Tigers and Bears oh my!

I love how we humans destroy an eco system and then once it starts to make a comeback we do it all over again.

P.S. The “Smart”Senator won’t understand one word of what you wrote as you failed to attach any benjamins to it.

i believe you to be correct!
