Back in 1970 a new radio show came out called the Dr. Demento show. I was a little too young to get into it when released, having not been borne yet, however I was made familiar with the sounds of Demento later on in my childhood. In fact in a High School English class I even used one of Demento’s songs as a class project – They are Coming to Take Me Away. Dr. Demento’s radio show is now off the air not having the support of the station target demographic any longer. That said he has taken his show to the web which apparently makes him happy.

What is little known, at least I had no clue, was Weird Al Yankovic apparently owes his success to Demento as Demento introduced Al to the world when Al was just 16 years old. I have included a video of Al here.
