Thoughts on H1N1 “Emergency”

Posted on 29 October 2009 by scanjack

I found this blog post to be interesting given the continued “When Pigs Fly Flu” hype we keep having shoved in our face everyday.

Why not the first daughters?

Posted on 27 October 2009 by scanjack

Sadly, even if it were to be a televised vaccination they would simply inject harmless Saline IMHO.

Leadership by Example

Posted on 26 October 2009 by Thraxxus

If this is true, then really, can we believe in anything anymore?

President Obama signed some document stating that there is a national H1N1 (Swine Flu) Epidemic which basically allows the makers of the vaccination to sort of skip some safety measures when churning out the shots. Now on to the bigger wtf moment:

Apparently the President’s daughters won’t be getting the shot. Read that again a few times. The guy that just said it is an EPIDEMIC also took his daughters off the list of people who will get the shot – because they are at risk, from something. This all reminds be of an 80s film called Dragonslayer where this kingdom holds a lottery every year with the names of all non married women thrown in. The name that gets pulled gets turned into Dragon dinner. Best part? The King’s own daughter was never put into the lottery even though the king’s mandate was ALL WOMEN.

Sound Familiar? I hope this isn’t true.

“FYI, alright man, you can sit at home, and do like absolutely nothing and…and your name goes through like seventeen computers a day. 1984, yeah right man, that’s a typo. Orwell’s here and now, he’s living large. We have no names, man, no names. We are nameless.” – CEREAL

A Little Ginsberg

From Howl.

“I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix, angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night, who poverty and tatters and hollow-eyed and high sat up smoking in the supernatural darkness of cold-water fiats ‘doating across the tops of cities contemplating jazz, who bared their brains to Heaven under the El and saw Mohammedan angels staggering on tenement roofs illuminated, who passed through universities with radiant cool eyes hallucinating Arkansas and Blake-light tragedy among the scholars of war, who were expelled from the academies for crazy & publishing obscene odes on the windows of the skull, who cowered in unshaven rooms in underwear, burning their money in wastebaskets and listening to the Terror through the wall, who got busted in their pubic beards returning through Laredo with a belt of marijuana for New York, who ate fire in paint hotels or drank turpentine in Paradise Alley, death, or purgatoried their torsos night after night, with dreams, with drugs, with waking nightmares, alcohol and cock and endless balls, incomparable blind streets of shuddering cloud and lightning in the mind leaping toward poles of Canada & Paterson, illuminating all the motionless world of Time between, Peyote solidities of halls, backyard green tree cemetery dawns, wine drunkenness over the rooftops, storefront boroughs of teahead joyride neon blinking traffic light, sun and moon and tree vibrations in the roaring winter dusks of Brooklyn, ashcan rantings and kind king light of mind, who chained themselves to subways for the endless ride from Battery to holy Bronx on benzedrine until the noise of wheels and children brought them down shuddering mouth-wracked and battered bleak of brain all drained of brilliance in the drear light of Zoo….”

Waving of Medical Standards

Posted on 24 October 2009 by Thraxxus

Yep. Here we go!

A small tidbit.

“In keeping with the administration’s proactive approach to H1N1 Flu, President Obama last night signed a proclamation declaring 2009-H1N1 Influenza a national emergency,” it said in a statement. “The proclamation enhances the ability of our nation’s medical treatment facilities to handle a surge in H1N1 patients by allowing, as needed, the waiver of certain standard federal requirements on a case-by-case basis.”

Good Diagnostic Resource

Posted on 24 October 2009 by Caravaggio

One of the better Diagnostic Algorithms* I’ve read… clear and simple.

*This is only being offered under the category of generalized information and should not, under any circumstance, be utilized for primary decision guidance when inquirying about a medical situation involving your family or yourself. It is strongly recommended to consult with your PCP or a similar resource when seeking medical advice. I’m neither a Doctor nor an Actor who portrays a Doctor on TV. However, I do watch Actors who play Doctors on TV which qualifies me to lick windows, enjoy the abstract nature of the sport called “Baseball” and answer to anyone who utters the name “Warren”.

My Nemesis

Posted on 22 October 2009 by Thraxxus

I believe I posted one of these before, however they are a pair, two sides to a conversation if you will.

The first one is catchy, and warning, will get stuck in your head.

The second has very clever wording that admire.

So first we Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz’s song.

Then we have Perry the Platypus’ Song – and since Perry doesn’t actually talk some dude with a nice voice does the singing.

A little tidbit about Phineas and Ferb, and most likely why I like the show so much, being an avid The Family Guy fan.

From Wikipedia – “Aspects of the show’s humor are aimed at adults,[12] including its frequent pop-cultural references.[13] Co-creator Dan Povenmire, having previously written for Family Guy, sought to create a show less raunchy but with the same use of comic timing, employing humorous blank stares, expressionless faces, and clever wording.[14] Povenmire describes the show as a combination of Family Guy and Spongebob Squarepants.[15] Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, the other co-creator, said the show was not created just for kids, but simply did not exclude them as an audience.”

I also found this to be amazing – “The songs span many genres, from 16th-century madrigals to Broadway show tunes.[3] Each is written in an intensive session during episode production: a concept, score, and lyrics are developed quite quickly.[4] Together, Marsh and Povenmire can “write a song about almost anything” and in only one hour at most.[17] After they finish writing the song, Povenmire and Marsh sing it over the answering machine of series composer Danny Jacob on Friday nights. By the Monday the song is fully produced.[19]

Joke from a Friend

Posted on 21 October 2009 by Thraxxus

Thanks to HarleyGirl for this.

A cop was on his horse waiting to cross the street, when a little girl on her new shiny bike stopped beside him. ‘Nice bike,’ the cop said. ‘Did Santa bring it to you?’ ‘Yes Sir,’ the little girl said, ‘he sure did!’ The cop looked the bike over and handed the girl a $5 ticket for a safety violation. The cop said, ‘Next year, tell Santa to put a reflector light on the back of it!’ The young girl looked up at the cop and said, ‘Nice horse you’ve got there Sir. Did Santa bring it to you?’ Playing along with the girl, he chuckled and answered, ‘Yes, he sure did!’ The little girl looked up at the cop and said, ‘Next year tell Santa; The dick goes underneath the horse, not on top.
